Description
Otoplasty, also known as Ear Surgery, reduces the size of large ears or 'pins' them back closer to the head, so they protrude less. This procedure creates a better balance to the face. It can also repair a long holes or divided earlobes from earring injuries. Ear surgery is usually performed on children between the ages of four and fourteen. 
The surgeon makes an incision in the back of the ear to expose the ear cartilage, which can be sculpted or folded. Even when only one ear appears to protrude, surgery is often performed on both ears for a better balance. The surgery will leave a permanent, faint scar in the back of the ear the will fade with time.
